Sharp tongues cut across her soul as
wagging fingers punctuate their disapproval.
Sighing her frustration, she looks beyond the window
of unmet expectations that threaten to grasp her
with their unrelenting fingers in vain attempts
to kill the vibrant spirits that dance within.

Sharp tongues cut across her soul as- wagging fingers punctuate their disapproval.
Instead of the other way round- Sharp fingers and wagging tongue- this only displays the strong feelings.. Each word stabbed across many times.. I had read that again and again since it was like a round and vicious cycle- what a blatant truth you have expressed just in few words..
Happy Rally Love,

You know, I didn’t even see that switch. This one, like most of my poems, just came to me as I was dozing in bed. I got up and had to write it down. It had to get out. Good to see you Olivia. I will be stopping by soon. Happy rally to you!
Hugs!

This society with its hypocritical inhabitants only knows to point fingers at others! Little does it realize how much this hurts!
Such a beautiful poem, Lisa… you captured this pain too well here…
I hope NOTHING threatens her free spirit!!
September 23rd, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Hi Kavita! Her free spirit is a strong spirit.

…”wagging fingers punctuate their disapproval..” What an amazing line – why does the whole world and their dog have an opinion on OUR business?? People are so quick to tell us what we are doing wrong with our lives…such people would trample down vibrant spirits at the drop of a hat.
Great poem – and the photo is excellent too xx
September 23rd, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Yes too many people think they know what’s right. It might be right for them, but not for someone else. And the poem I got from Morgue Files.
September 28th, 2010 at 8:34 am
I mean the picture I got from Morgue files lol!

And yet they believe what they choose to believe. I have come to realize protestations are a futile exercise and only serve to frustrate me. Thanks for your comments!
September 24th, 2010 at 12:19 pm

Very powerful poem you have here. I hope such attempts are always in vain. It takes a lot of positivity to keep them from drowning us.
September 24th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
Yes it does!
September 24th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
Oh “Resilience” is wonderful. You put into words what I was trying to convey and
wasn’t able to verbalize a while ago.
Fabulous piece.
September 26th, 2010 at 10:45 am
Thanks! That happens to me sometimes- I come across a poem that puts into words what I can’t.
September 24th, 2010 at 6:51 pm
At least she can see beyond…some people can’t manage that, and lose themselves for it. Powerful poem, very expressive, very positive. Well done–keep that resilience!
September 26th, 2010 at 10:46 am
Thank you Chris! I never want to lose myself. It would make life so dull.

… and you said poetry was “hiding out” from you. This is stunning … and so is the pix. Is it yours?
Nice work!
🙂
September 26th, 2010 at 10:48 am
Well, except for this piece, poetry is hiding out from me. I haven’t been able to think of anything. argh!
No the picture is from Morgue files, but I thought it was apt with the browned edges of the roses and the beautiful, vibrant color.
September 29th, 2010 at 7:52 pm
Well you did a lovely job of it. Congrats! 🙂
September 25th, 2010 at 3:49 am
This is a great piece. A message to yourself?
September 26th, 2010 at 10:49 am
Not a message to myself, but a bit of myself.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:59 am
