The racing brain came to a grinding halt
at the edge of consciousness,
jostling the passengers inside.
Riders recomposed, shaking off a reverie
Collecting their belongings,
each one disembarked at the junction
between reality and dream,
marching off to their offices of creation
to begin the nightly tasks of fantasy.

Thanks Richard! I wrote this in the midst of a fever. My best stuff comes to me when I’m not fully conscious lol!

I know it sounds odd but sometimes when we are not fully with it.
We can produce some amazing stuff.
Perhaps we are less rigid about the process and our inner creator is the one that sings for us

I do think you’re right. The stuff I “force out” never seems as good.

Nice piece. ‘nightly tasks of fantasy’ – you make it sound almost mundane (in a good way)… interesting slant.
Hope you have been well… I’ve been somewhat off the radar, also trying to set up a self-hosted WordPress blog… finally managed. So wanted to let you know that my URL/address has changed to
http://lukepraterswordsalad.com/
(same as it was minus the ‘wordpress’ bit).
Stay warm! Hope to see you around soon, I haven’t been participating in much but will again

Very imaginative.. 🙂
Hoping you feel better now! Apologies- I had been away for long- not anymore- I am back.. 😀
I like the poem very much- mystical n strange, yet that’s how it happens..
You are right- often I get to write better stuff (or so I think) when I’m really sulking or unwell! Thoughts knock at my mind only when I am about to doze off!
Sending you Hugs

Very interesting and intriguing verse.. I could see it both sides…
‘each one disembarked at the junction
between reality and dream,’
…in living and in after life…

The creatures stiring deep within always please us at the hour of sleep, and what a show!

Is this what’s going on while I am sleeping? For some reason – I rarley remember dreams – even faintly. Very interesting read …
Here is my first rally entry:

Many thanks to Rhyme, rmp, Paulo, and Becca.
@ Beeca, this is at least what goes on when I am sleeping. I have very vivid dreams and I often think about them during the day.
@ Paulo, most definitely- I love my dream world.
@ rhyme- I actually came out of a dream state to write this, or maybe I was still partway in it…:)
